Activities Day Tours

There are not many reasons to leave the Estate, however if you feel like exploring the area, Grand Dédale is perfectly situated and surrounded by many local attractions.

Guided tours, sea, air & land:

  • Land – private guided half or full day tours of the Winelands, Cape Town, the Cape Peninsula, Hermanus or the West Coast
  • Sea – private cruises for up to 10 guests on a motor yacht to Clifton, Camps Bay, Hout Bay or around Robben Island (including views of the new soccer stadium from the sea!) Cruise starts from the Marina at the V&A Waterfront. Booking essential.
  • Air – Helicopter flips over the Winelands or the Cape Peninsula

Self driven day tours, all within a 1 ½ hour’s reach:

  • Cape Town & Peninsula – Table Mountain, V&A Waterfront, Cape Point, Botanical Gardens, Boulders Beach and many more attractions
  • Franschhoek – the capital of good food & wine
  • Stellenbosch – the student town with many beautiful street cafés and restaurants
  • Paarl – Paarl Rock and the Paarl Monument towering high above the town, are worth a visit
  • Game drive – approximately 15 km from Grand Dédale there is a beautiful nature reserve offering game drives through fynbos; the reserve is home to various buck, birds and zebra
  • Tulbagh – the historic old town surprises with quaint buildings, museums and restaurants
  • Robertson Valley – for the active and young at heart
  • Riebeek-Kasteel – the scenic valley is well known for the olive production
  • Ceres – the centre of the South African fruit production and home of the longest zip slide in Africa!
  • Darling – rich in culture and history
  • Passes – breathtaking mountain scenery on Bainskloof, Du Toitskloof & Franschhoek Pass
  • West Coast National Park – particularly spectacular in the spring time for the flower season
  • Yzerfontein – enjoy long walks along the “16 mile” beach
